More on Homeopathy: Rash Answers.....3-28-08

"When Homeopathy Makes you Sick"

By: Aurore Adamkiewicz, ND

www.beyondnaturalmedicine.com

Since both rashes and homeopathy are very misunderstood, I am continuing more information on these two subjects.

First of all, rashes are probably the most common ailment
I treat people for-everyone wants to deal with the rash first,
or often it is the first thing that makes people realize they need to treat.
When we are talking about eczema in general-
it is very psychosomatic, I have seen eczema in children
clear up when issues with the Mother have been resolved.
Alot of times I use constitutional homeopathy through the Mother to do this-
but many of you already know that I am very careful and reserved with homeopathy.
The lower potency and acute nature of classical homeopathy is driving illness deeper into the organs, homeopaths should know this-so why don't they still follow it?

Let me first explain Herings Law which upon homeopathy, naturopathic and later iridology practices were founded upon (Wood, 1954):
When the illness leave the body and there is the cure-there is a "law of direction"

*Symptoms leave from top to bottom

*From vital to less vital organs

*In reverse order in which they arrived

and later added by Dr. Bernard Jenson

* From internal to external

* An expected aggravation of symptoms or "healing crisis"

Now look at this example:

A person has a rash and attempts to self cure and takes a low potency (physical)

homeopathic to treat rash (which is external and often the latter stage of illness)

There may in fact be a remission of rash symptoms which would leave one to believe the had been a cure-but in fact-Hering's Law has been ignored (or the internal)

So, the rash is driven farther inside the body, attributing to later diseases such as:
liver disease, kidney disease, cancer, etc. In this way homeopathy acts like tylenol, a common fever and symptom suppressor.

A better and more educated treatment would be to:
Treat the psychosis (emotional symptoms) first and work your way across the "layers" that appear-in less doses and higher potency-

You may initially see a relief in emotional symptoms but a rash aggravation (to be expected). Than you continue down the "system" following Hering's Law.

This is stage one-and it is highly unlikely this stage can be accomplished by self treating, also highly unlikely a homeopath would be able to successfully treat this stage without first getting to know a client.

With my web clients-I typically don't arrive at homeopathic recommendations until the last week of our one month consult. Alot of time I have hunches that are right, but I always let the personality reveal itself on it's own terms...although I may use a homeopathic "expresser" like nat.mur, staphysagria, or ignatia to get the ball rolling.

So, in choosing herbs or homeopathy-keep in mind both herbs and homeopathy are being used like allopathic medicine. Reducing a fever with herbs or chemicals-will produce the same results-a disruption in the healing crisis. We would be wise to remember Hering's Law and also trust someone enough to help us get through stage one of our self healing journey.

References

Wood, Matthew (1954).
Angry Violent Children: An Anthroposophical Perspective

For those of you who are following my blogs on aggressive children and behavioral issues, I am continuing the theme here-in my previous posts I compared children against the backdrop of religious influences, birth influences, and environment influences, here I will now compare it light of Steiner's work...

This is basically addressing the trend in some Waldorf circles to label young children with certain temperaments.

The Choleric Child Before 9 years old-What does that mean?

Steiner addresses many birth and pre-birth influences on children. He does so using the theology of Redi and Bruno as an example-these two men (who were persecuted) claimed that "the living comes from living"-that the Spirit is alive and transfers ...in a nut shell......For this Bruno was burned at the stake.

Basically-between the 9 (the adult teeth) and 11 year change (puberty) the influences of "heredity" and imitation, and individuality-

finally submerge-

Before that time- a child labeled as a choleric child might be strongly astral, or "imitating" one of it's parents, reacting to it's environment, astrological influences throughout life of course, or acting out preverbal traumas (as in the case of my oldest son's birth trauma, he recently came too me that he used to be in a happy place, and he came to earth too soon, and he didn't want to-this was a strange coincidence because his birth was induced and he was pulled from my womb violently with a vacuum)-

There is no question or debate on the temperaments...at any age, but here is an extended explaination of the anthroposophical stages of childhood.

The focus of Waldorf is protecting the child's intellect and developing the soul of the child-in stages (this is an extremely condensed definition).

For those of you already familiar with Steiner, I continue here in more specific terms:

This means to develop and protect the etheric body in early childhood as much as possible...to keep the child in the "child" realm until they are ready to "come out" of it....if the child is already in the astral intellect realm, then the process would be to strengthen the etheric forces.

So, it is difficult to apply this wholeheartedly-unless you have followed the education from birth (I have not) so...influences will be much stronger, the astral body could be prematurely stronger then the etheric...

The astral body- is the hardening, the mineralization, the sexuality, the rhythm, the intellect-many children in our culture have in Waldorf terms-an underdeveloped etheric body and an over developed, premature astral body.

In the early ages-teachers are more concerned about these two aspects then the temperaments. What the kindergarten teacher told my friend at the Ann Arbor Waldorf who had a six year old that was too astral was to:

Take walks outside in the fresh air everyday, switch to beeswax instead of clay, Watercolour painting, and listening to music with less mechanical earthy beats and add more singing with music strings and flutes....(this is one reason why they do not recommend drum lessons until after puberty)

In the book the "Temperaments and the Arts"by Magda Lissau-Steiner is quoted comparing these two polarized influences of the child and their stages Dionysus and Apollo-Dionysus which is the heavier earth astral influence, and Apollo-the lyre-representing the sun and the etheric body (this is why through Mercurius you can purchase the pure A tone tuning fork which resonates children to the sun).

So if you picture the child growing-and as the child grows you will have a complete adult-who is balanced cosmically within the: Dionysius and Apollo, will and feeling, astral and etheric, life and death, the balance between lucifer and ahriman, expansion and contraction....

or at least, this is the hope....The merging of these opposites can be accomplished with language and art (see my music language program the AMHC).

Up until puberty the child is soft and less mineral, and with the teeth we see the "hardening"into adulthood.. The ego or astral body are literally falling to the earth, and this is why it is compared to the Biblical story of the "fall of humanity" To quote the book above book again,

"If we have a strongly developed physical body, we shall not yet have touched the ground with our feet as a child but remain more connected to the dense water element of the water sphere, just as we were in the womb. Even our bones are not as hard as they will become later on, cartilage is less mineralized and solid. The physical body hardens and contracts..eventually, fluids can and may solidify- and thus, the phlegmatic child becomes a melancholic adult" and here...

"If our astral forces are predominant in childhood, we shall be all movement, rushing, all activity, in choleric liveliness...." (Pgs. 146-148)

As a naturopath,

When a child is having a hard time with the "fall" or coming into their teeth or puberty,

I always recommend Ambra Grisea, constitutionally homeopathically-

This goes along with the realization of death-the bite-where there is suddenly an anxiety about "hitting the earth" disconnecting from oneness (individuality) and the ultimate realization of death.

-as a side note-an exercise which is very good for this is changing the circles when making the Waldorf forms after 9 to always putting a dot in the center-this reflects their journey into the "earth".... and coming into the individuality)

On a deeper aspect, Anthroposophically, it may prove to be more cohesive and simpler to focus on the aspects of etheric and astral-in those terms...

Which is not quite as complex as temperaments, and for lay people (like me!)

It is easier to look at those two aspects right now-with my five year old-(who thinks he is 18) and address the more complex solidified aspects of my 11 year old-which are now temperamentally applied.

Parents of wee ones who are referring to temperaments -as described by Steiner, need not worry about labeling their child's temperament.

Temperaments should definitely be protected-and not totally disregarded in the early years...

but the concern is for labeling children too soon, locking them in before their intellect and ego properly develop and missing the greater issue which maybe an imbalanced astral and etheric body....

For example: a four year old boy would be described as having choleric traits or in a choleric "stage" but would not be diagnosed as being a primary "choleric" until many years later...

This should take a great load off of some of your minds : )

Please check out this source for early childhood.

http://wn.rsarchive .org/Lectures/ 19231125p01. html;mark= 148,45,60# WN_mark

Mystery Centres, Rudolf Steiner, LECTURE III. Dornach, November 25, 1923.
Aurore Adamkiewicz, ND

www.beyondnaturalmedicine.com

Autism One 2008 Conference Starring: Jenny McCarthy.... Is Help Finally on it's Way?

Forgive me for being a wet blanket, regarding the well put together 2008 Autism Conference with Jenny McCarthy.

I checked this autism information out and the more I learn about it the more I continue to find it-

Less than comprehensive,

First of all, it is very scientific, medical and clinical

Secondly, this fact makes me put an eyebrow up and wonder how and why

Jenny McCarthy continues to back up, trust, and protect the allopathic medical community.

Even after her saying she is convinced that vaccines caused her son's autism-she still recommends vaccination and will rub the great pharmaceutical back of the medical community....

My guess is that this conference will generate alot of response because of her celebrity status, the high rate of national autism, and people wanting to be a part of something,

But as a Mother who had a son that was healed from autism-I see this as a treadmill effect-

To be completely honest-Jenny's first book on Motherhood-is a disgusting portrayal of childbirth and Motherhood-how she judges other women who go natural and how drugs are so "cool" and necessary...equally offensive is the meditative lotus position she sits in on the front cover.

I would like to see Jenny lead the way and get honest-apologize about her book-and come clean.

Any disease or behavioral problem has an emotional tie (somewhere)- her book on disconnecting from your body and birth in Motherhood-might not be the absolute "cause" of autism but will definitely be an arrow pointing the way....for other Mothers lost in the medical/hollywood birth realm.

Also, what about the poisons and mold in the breast implants she has? What about the danger of ultrasounds? Circumcision?- the list go on and on...

No one is talking about those truths-

We are talking about a alot more than just keeping kids on a special diet for the rest of their life and sending them to special schools and creating special laws to deal with kids as the conference advertises.

I mean that approach is fine-if you don't believe in healing-at all....or you are looking to go a little deeper than surface and not "jump" in.

The truth is-well, where is the truth?-That is my bottom line with all illness and disease....

To me I see a concerted effort-in autism, just like cancer-to cover the truth and waste peoples time.

Having said that I recognize that the information they provide might help someone and is apart of any journey-but I do believe there is a higher level of healing we can attain.

Aurore Adamkiewicz, ND

www.beyondnaturalmedicine.com

Foreign Language Secrets: Inside the AMHC Phase I, II, and III Music Programs

I receive a few emails a week asking about my secret to foreign language teaching-

You will be able to read my article in full on music and foreign language nationally (fingers crossed)...but there is an influx of people who bought Phase I that are really wanting to know the background information in depth. This part I will blog here will not be in the article..but maybe of some interest to some of you eclectics out there.

I use English sign language with all foreign language because it works like a glue base-like the egg in flour-however, because sign language is different in other countries, I have not made this secret weapon I use known-but now the interest is such that I will explain it.

First of all, I didn't use ESL in the DVD for the music program because we were singing and using the pentatonic instruments, but I think in the next one I will include a separate sign video that goes along on the same DVD. Secondly, ESL is there in the video, you just can't see it, I am actually signing to the kids while they sing and play the instruments.

Here is a list of how I teach foreign language:

1) vocab, singing and signs

2) verbs-with singing and signs

3)small sentences with singing and signs-basically taking songs apart,

Songs that they already now know and are accustomed to and taking them apart-

As the knowledge increases the songs change-from folk songs and nursery rhymes,

to Opera's and famous songs....

like we only started Spanish last year-so we are still on the second part-

we are working on the songs De Colores, La Granja and L'Arana pequenita-

You can see the all of the different folk songs in Phase I (available through my website).

With French we just finished la Vie en Rose and Le Facteur,

and started Bizet's Habanera....(These will be part of Phase II)

In German-Bruderchen and Freude-from Beethoven's Ninth,

I taught them the chorus, that is probably the video you saw before-

but now they are taking it apart in signs. In fact, in those videos you see of the kids,

I am signing to them while they sing......

In Spanish-they do very little writing and reading-but in French and German they are doing vocabulary and sentence work-those workbooks I got from the Muzzy program and NTC

Wir Schreiben auf Deutsch and Ecrirons en Francais-

There is an awesome little Foreign language book-you can get it in, I think any language-

it is a reader and it is about a Brother and Sister and their dog and the funny things they do on a daily basis-the Brother and Sister are teenagers-this is something that I use alot-Let me look it up for you,

it is a GREAT book and small and the lessons build on eachother, I am hoping soon the kids will be able to read it themselves....(could be hoping for too much.... : )

But I have it in French and German and it is by NTC-I have it put away right now (somewhere?) because it is Spanish month.... It is called the "Beginner German Reader" and it is the same in French "The Beginner French Reader"

www.beyondnaturalmedicine.com

Trick or Treat: More on Autism, Mothers, Healing and Truth.....

"Helping Children, In spite of Ourselves"

By Aurore Adamkiewicz, ND

Well, Many of you know that I take a completely different stand about autism-because my son used to be autistic and is now completely healed. I have found that this information about my son being healed, alone, gains me many enemies and few friends. Initially when I started trying to help autistic children, I felt like I was sitting on the "biggest secret" and information that would help children and Mothers heal and open up. But, sadly, two years into my quest to help and enlighten people, I have been treated very cruelly, completely misunderstood, and have roused anger and contempt on myself. I now feel like I have hit the same wall as I had 13 years ago at the oncology clinic with cancer patients. A part of me just wants to give up in this area, being consistently attacked has worn me down. Let me explain my latest endeavor.....

A friend of mine of 12 years posted to a local web group of 50 people that she had spanked her two year old and was feeling guilty. I posted a simple response to her that I also went through a very angry and guilty period of Motherhood and that the Holding therapy as prescribed by Dr. Margaret Welch in her book "Holding Time" taught me to reach out to my children in love when they act up and not hit them or reject them by sending them to their rooms. I offered to loan the book out to my friend and I also offered to go over the first holding session with her as a courtesy. My post was literally about five sentences long-and what that simple post unleashed was a wrath and of defensive hatred by Mothers that I could not have anticipated.

First of all, a woman on that group with an autistic child posted that there is nothing wrong with spanking and that her autistic son "needs" to be spanked in order to come back to "center". Then she sent no less then ten extra posts specifically attacking what I wrote. In one post she said that she tried the holding therapy by Dr. Welch and that she did it correctly and that it was cruel and mean and that her son "hates to be held" by his Mother (?) I could see this woman was very distraught and so, I sought to calm the situation by posting one reply in response to her ten. A short response where I agreed with her and told her that a Mother holding her child in anger feels the same as a Mother spanking her child and not only will the child view it as such but it causes confusion in the Mother/child bond. Essentially making the point that if you don't want to love your child and reach out to them-then don't force yourself and you cannot trick your children.

Well, after those posts, I received an email from the moderator telling me not to post about my business and to take my debate with this woman off group. I also received an apology from the woman that was enraged. I reassured her that I was not offended and that her response was a typical response that anyone would have when faced with new information. This woman and I emailed each other back and forth for about two weeks, in a kind and friendly manner. Finally, last Friday I received an invitation to meet this woman out for a drink...and so I agreed. (Can you hear the beginning of Beethoven's Fifth?!)

When I arrived at the pub I found the enraged woman we will call her "Sue" sitting at a table in the corner with my friend of 12 years. Upon sitting down and introducing mysefl, Sue started to share that she lost her virginity at three from her Mom's relative and she declared that she has no anger in her body anywhere regarding this situation. At this point I was ready to leave-knowing that her disconnected feelings of early child abuse would make any conversation with her challenged at best. I then learned that more people were coming from the web group and so I decided to wait to meet them face to face before I left.

My friend of 12 years left when the other women arrived, one of the new women announced that she also had an autistic son and also worked with autistic children as a medical assistant (I found out later that this was Sue's sister!!). Immediately, she sat down and accused me of trying to push my views on others. She also told me that my child was never autistic, and hers was..and that there is no cure for autism. Well, in this type of fatalistic dialog-there is no use going any further because there is no belief in "healing" so why bother discussing one ? I told her this type of belief system will set up a life long dependence on drugs and treatments to hide or repress the symptoms for the ultimate comfort of the individual, I am not saying that this belief system is "wrong or evil" but it is indeed a product of living in a society that has lost hope in health.

At this time both women informed me children had died from "being held" from"RAD" therapy and forced autistic compressions (?) I informed these women that RAD therapy had nothing to do with Dr. Welches work. I now realized that we were all, obviously, not talking about the same thing and in that way-it was a "non-debate."

A Case of Misperception and Defense

The original post I wrote to my friend-was not received well because it was not just misunderstood...but perhaps not read at all (?)....

Even the research I cited-was met with a defensive response, but ironically-the two people who had an issue with it-did not know about the research, or bothered look up what I was talking about before they responded or met me at the pub.

In defense of these women, there are alot of different factors which will cloud our perceptions.

1) Someone being so angry they can not process what they read or see

2) Mental or physical illness even brain damage which impairs the way they process information

3) Prevalent, drug use effecting the way they process information

(The sister in disguise proudly boasted that she and her son were both on a variety of behavior modification drugs but regretfully she admitted, "I do not know what they are and need to ask my seven year old, he knows...")

4) the effect of environmental toxins (specifically aluminum in the form of fluoride) has a dulling and dementia effect on the brain.

All of these things can make people see what is not there or not see what is there.

I finally left these women at 12 midnight in a totally different mindset, I had been set up and the kind hearted communication that the woman Sue and I exchanged was in fact superficial on her part-affected me tremendously. I came there to show I would not contract in the face of adversity and to put disagreements behind us, what I realized was that these women were stewing in anger for two weeks and were more than happy to use me as a punching bag rather than a platform for change and healing. More than that-I have a policy of not befriending sisters-like most family circles, people will protect eachothers illnesses and sicknesses and at the same time back bite and abuse eachother through a third party.

In Regards to Autism and rebonding, I can only say that I still believe in Dr. Welch's work-as strongly as ever, and it has never been about anger and violence but truth, love, safety and eye-contact. If you are someone who has been under the assumption that holding your child is wrong, or could hurt your child-I invite you to look at Dr. Welches work, individually, and do not view it in light of other doctors who got a hold of a similar idea and like anything they "in-doctor-nated it" and changed it, and made something as beautiful as a Mother holding her child a cruel and unnatural process that can hurt children. This is the same "in -doctor-nation" that they have done to women in childbirth and breastfeeding. I invite you to read my book "Beyond Natural Cures" where I present the entire story of my autistic son and I, Reich's book "Children of the Future", "Saharasia" by Dr. James DeMeo which outlines our lengthy disconnection from Motherhood over the last 3,000 years and our recent attempt to get it back. I also welcome you to click on the link below to read an article that compares Holding Time to RAD therapy.

More on Zen Babies......Truth and Temperance

As my thoughts trail on this zen issue-specifically what concerns me is the idea of

"Zen" babies-and the effects of zen adults on children, any religion can be repressive on children. Having said this, does not mean that the zen mentality is wrong-just that it lacks a time line within our Westerners journey and specifically with children.

In orgonomy-as you work through your own feelings and work them through and out of the body-you will arrive at a "zen point" where people don't effect you the same way and you do not hold on to and absorb the anger-but it passes through you. Which will bring you to a Buddhist mentality-and a higher understanding-

For me, I know it is not something that occurs overnight and it may take years of discipline- not unlike Uma Thurman's character in Kill Bill! But I had many layers to work through and depending on the level of early damage and the earlier it occurs the less hope for a prognosis-although improvement can be made.

I think that my article on the yamas (spiritual laws of Hinduism) Satya (truth) and Ahimsa (non-violence) and temperance (timing) is appropriate here- you can look it up on my blog or I can send it to you- but it basically states that we are living in the dark age and that Westerners in terms of Yoga are skipping Satya and trying to attain Ahimsa-basically afraid of Satya-

Which appears in the age of Darkness-Kali Yuga- whenever Satya comes forward or starts to reveal her face, yoga Maya (Illusion) jumps in front of her-and is invited with a personal invitation by the individual who beckons her.

So, I implore people to pull the veil of yoga Maya down and invest in the necessary and scary journey of Satya-

This is what that elephant painting means in my office-Ganesha (force to push through barriers with physical strength) pushes through yoga Maya (illusion)

to arrive at Satya which is written in sanskrit in the Sun-

the Buddhist Pagoda behind Ganesha-represents-moving away from ancient religious structures that house mechanical, Arhimanic laws-to journey towards Satya-the goal.

Ganesha-is crowned as a king and is balancing the earth on his head....pushing the earth towards the new age.

Om mani padme Om,

Aurore

Sound, Color, Music and Healing: A Look at the Amazing Concept of the AMHC Phases I, II, II

Music and Language Immersion-How do we do it?

Introducing Music, Language and Health to Children.

By: Aurore Adamkiewicz, ND

There are lots of classes to expose your child to "music." However, the most important and the most overlooked aspect of early music learning is the exposure of "pure tones" with out timbre and rhythm to the children. This is where sound therapy comes in and applying pure tones to the body to balance and bring wellness (Jean Beaulieu's research, Pythagoras, etc).

In terms of language learning, many parents are relying soley, if not completely on tapes and DVDs. Without citing alot of obvious research that everyone has already heard, pop culture research has shown that any TV before 5 is very damaging.
Children under five-thrive and need real interaction...especially through music, rhymes, singing and signing. (With my own children American sign language was used as a "base" physical language to link all other languages.) At one point, we enrolled our children in L'ecole de Francaise of Detroit. Here they got the much needed immersion but were surrounded by teachers who were so cruel to them they did not want to speak French anymore! Thus, after the plan having backfired, I had to seek out a better solution that left me, the parent in ultimate control.

I pass no judgement on parents resorting to TV for language immersion because I understand the parents plight. I myself as a parent and an early music and language educator have struggled with this and still do. With my older two children-they had many hours of diverse language TV time-which did little to improve their language skills-Muzzy, lyric language videos, TinTin-etc-
None of them helped to produce the language savvy individuals I had hoped for-and any language learning they learned came directly from me and my not so desirable accent! In the musical realm, their very expensive Kelly Kirby piano classes at five years old proved to be little more than overwhelming them with "adult-erated" expectations and forced memorization without the needed and easily forgotten word "Comprehension" (a hallmark of Waldorf eduation).

I am a person who learns from my mistakes, indeed, mistakes are a catalyst for me to learn and grow. As a Naturopathic scientist I have researched this whole heartedly for the last ten years. Having now created something revolutionary different and amazingly effective in terms of language and music language programs, I can reach out to others who are in programs that have not worked or have not met the needs of their children. With my own five year old and other children from my classes I have developed a program that uses music, color, and language-tuned to the Pentatonic pythagorean scale which has proven to be very successful and which I am currently obtaining a patent. The children are learning music, healing aspect of color and sound therapy and language all at the same time. The colors applied to the song book are not applied half hazardly for visual appeal but are based on scientific research of color and sound as prescribed by the late Dr. Darius Dinshah and his amazing book "Let there Be Light." For more general information on color and sound, you can purchase my book "Beyond Natual Cures" where I outline it's usage and benefits.

The DVD that comes with it isn't meant for children to sit and watch over and over (although they will want to!) but as a means to inspire and help (along with a translation guide and a pronunciation guide in the lesson planner and song book).
You can go to my website www.beyondnaturalmedicine.com and click on AMHC which is the language/music program-there are videos on the website you can watch to see how it works and a trailor for the movie.
For those of you who have already bought phase I and are hungry for more, Phase II should be available in the Summer 2008.
Phase II has less folk songs and more classics like,
The Habenera by Bizet, Beethoven's Seventh Alleghretto, Hijo de La Luna, and Edith Piaf's La Vie en Rose, & Strauss's Fledermaus - and an Arabic song called Yalla.
The diatonic scale is not introduced until phase III but we do start intervals in II....so it builds simply, easily and evenly.

Good luck to you in Music, Language, and Health!

Peace, Hope and Love: Dealing with Violence and Violent Children

A Western Peaceful Society:Is it Possible?

By Aurore Adamkiewicz ND

www.Beyondnaturalmedicine.com

Recently I was asked what a woman should do with a son that was four and hitting and kicking children at school. The Mother felt that the child was upset about something going on in the home and was in my own view, over intellectualizing the child's behavior. In my first response I told her that the child was going through a normal phase, although society and the educational system will not recognize it and will do everything to change it-forcefully. I advised the Mother to have the child hit and kick inanimate objects in the home and the Mother commencing the Holding techniques as outlined in Dr. Martha Welch's book "Holding Time"(This is not RAD therapy!! Please see my other blog on this).

Shortly thereafter the woman contacted me and said the child was having a hard time distinguishing between humans and objects and that she was now implementing the Buddhist teaching on aggression as stated here:

"Say hello to aggression and identify it but then focus on a happier vibe rather then channeling it into hitting. If you give aggression enough air time and hit, you help it grow rather then moving onto "more productive" emotions."

The following is my response to this ideology and it's effectiveness in changing the very real human emotion of "anger".

The Tibetan people that run the Buddhist centers here by my home are by far the most kindest, generous people I have met.

The Buddhist Temples though can become (Sometimes) a "safe" haven or escape for angry Americans and ritually repressed individuals that like the teachings of Buddha, but inevitably find themselves "going" through the motions. For some it creates a sort of religious schizophrenia; where people cut themselves emotionally off in several realms which can also lead to chronic lying or severe personality disassociation. This is not unique to Buddhism but every religion can create this effect. A chronic reason for this disassociation is and inability of followers to connect to the heart and attempt to live out God only in their heads.

Children in Christianity

While visiting a Church several months ago I became acutely aware of all the children around me. Children under seven were being constantly reprimanded and told to "be good" in Church and forced to sit still and numb for over an hour. I became more innerviated when I saw a group of small children about 5 brought up to the altar to pray and give a litany, many of these children were mispronouncing words and someone was standing behind them telling them what to say. While the Church audience chuckled, I did not. I tell this story to relate, every person in every religion would do well to examine their beliefs and how they effect children.

Back to Buddhism

There is an important difference between Western Buddhist converts and Tibetan Buddhists that I'll state here: The Tibetans are raised in a community-which is unlike anything us Westerners understand. They do not have a belief in a blood thirsty god following their every move or hiding inside their psyche somewhere-They are a perfect example of communal living at its best-

They are true pacifists and for sake of religious association-true Christians in terms of pacifism and understanding, except for the reliance on the male hierarchy in many of the sects, which is something that Christ was trying to change...

But even a male "higher"archy can be liberating if the women are treated with honor and are given sexual freedom and genital acceptance.

For some Westerners-Eastern beliefs like other religious ideology can become contractful mechanical, ahrimanic (Steiner's term) a way to go through the motions and attempt to hide their true thoughts and feelings-it can be fluffy and insincere for many individuals (not all). Then there are those who make it very rigid and legalistic which then makes it indistinguishable from other more harsher and broken forms of patriarchal religion.

I assume that true Buddhist colonies create a society somewhat like the peaceful Trobriand Islanders in Malinowski's book "The Sexual Life of Savages". Wilhelm Reich worked with Malinowski's research to form his comparisons of Western Society and tribal societies .

United States Vs. Tibet

The United States, especially, is a very violent place- behold,a typical first year for most American babies (not every American baby), a numb and drugged childbirth in an unnatural hospital environment with cold, non-feeling doctors and numb nurses poking them and prodding new born babies, non breastfed babies exposed to plastic neurotoxins and even the baby's that are breast fed may have a direct experience with a Mother who has severe genital and breast anxiety and sex shame. American baby's are more times than not removed from the womb with knives and other mechanical, harsh equipment, male children are routinely genitally mutilated, babies are then placed in plastic baby swings, cribs, and carriers, many left to cry, put in front of the TV, held down and tortured countless times by strangers injecting them with poisons and disease..finally, a good many graduate to "baby schools" which are day cares run by care givers that are being paid to do the job that the birth Mother won't.....adding to the youth circle of distress is the horrible treatment that the elderly receive in American society.

Many are left to wait out the end of their life in adult "day cares" where they are given poor quality food and water but strangely, the harsh clinical setting is profoundly hidden behind beautiful and immaculate architectural surroundings-

Welcome to this cement and plastic world that we Westerner's call home and try desperately to mentally and physically escape from but often that attempt to escape leads us from treadmill to treadmill that goes no where...and leads us right back to where we started-emotionally and physically disconnected from the Whole-the Mother.

When one meets someone from Tibet- it is clear that they have something we don't..something we want but unfortunately-this may have a small part to do with religion but everything to do with a safe passage onto the earth plane and a Mother that loved them and accepted them unconditionally.

Now, in regards to a child, who cannot distinguish-or rather-prefers to hit humans rather than objects-

This can be easily remedied with a daily holding time time routine as prescribed by Dr. Welch to sort through pent up emotions please read my other article on this-this is NOT THE SAME THING AS RAD therapy-which is harmful to children. The Mother needs to also ACTIVELY invest a few minutes each day-helping the child release pent up aggression-if it needs to be done before school-well, then it needs to be done. The idea of thinking what they are angry about and physically hitting it out is what Reich taught was necessary and what makes Orgonomy different from every other new age or religious teaching. It is unrealistic to think that getting your anger out leads to "more anger" as stated in the previous quotes-anger is a human emotion-period.

There are people who create feel good ideology without going deeper these beliefs can be idealistic, unattainable, and induce guilt when the attempt to recreate them fails. These people are "Dr. Philling us"...they are literally trying to "Phil" us up with superficial ideology and emotionally break us down. In the end we will feel like emotional weirdos and they feel like Gurus. Thinking happy thoughts may delay emotion-but it does not physically remove the very human and necessary emotion of anger.

For myself, I realize that any of the amazing feats I have accomplished in my life were contrived and ultimately completed in anger and love (whether I choose to recognize it as anger or hide it under the word love). My home birth was a result of my anger towards the hospital and the birth injury my first child received at the hands of the white coats, of course, there was also a love for humanity and my unborn child mixed in that recipe as well.

Anger which is continually thwarted and hopelessly changed to "happy thoughts" will eventually rear it's ugly head- either in the rebellious teenage years- or the 18 year old mark where most mental illness become unrelenting reality for an unprecidented number of Americans. The solution therefore is to seek out happy pill, anti anxiety-drugs-legal or illegal-to suppress and hide feelings.

Hence, the circle of karma.....

I recommend these books;

Beyond Natural Cures by Aurore Adamkiewicz, ND (wink)

Demeo, James, Dr. (1998). Saharasia.

Ashland: Natural Energy Works.

Welch, Martha G.
Vegetarianism: An in Depth look

I support clients who are vegetarian or not.

I follow Gabriel Cousen's protocol strictly with clients who are Vegan and steer people who are kapha and Vata away from macrobiotic living with lots of raw and uncooked foods.

The reason why I am not a Vegan is because I cannot at this time invest in keeping up strictly on my B-12 stores and weigh and measure my food, etc- I was a Vegan for a few years and I got very sick and just did not feel well the whole time.

I also do not consume soy (read my blog on soy), at all, and this would also make a difficult Vegan life for me.

In working with vegan's over the years-I have seen quite a few suffering from ill effects of depleted B-12 stores, anemia, hormone imbalances from soy, food shaming tactics and paranoia-I am not sure if it is the paranoia which causes the shaming and guilt about food or vice versa-but some have borderlined as obsessive compulsive-which may also be attributed to Vata's and Kapha's trying to live within a Pitta diet. I just don't know.

This is not to say that every Vegan experiences these issues but that I have seen a pattern-similar to the one Gabriel Cousen's addresses in his book "Conscious Eating". I do believe that Vegetarianism-is superior-in terms of reverence (truly, what is a humane way to "kill") and enzymes but the longer I work in this business the more balanced perspective I get. I also would like to say in defense of vegetarians that most American's get far too much protein, which leads to liver problems with ketone bodies, kidney stones and problems, and decreased immunity.

Most of my friends are Vegetarians and we have alot of respect for eachother. I wrote an article for a magazine about diet extremes and finding a balance-you might enjoy it...please email me for a copy, or I will post it soon....

Clearly-there is a need for us to appreciate and honor our bodies-what we put into them, etc. While the killing of animals is a tragic exchange for human life-

I put it underneath the vast amounts of forced infant genital mutilations and horrendous birthing practices which amount to child abuse from Doctors and parents to babies. Let us work together improving the peaceful and loving conditions of Mothers, babies and their births-and in this way, animals will get the fall out of a natural change of heart from a society of humans that were loved and protected as children. Peace begins with me!
