Are You Having Difficulty Teaching a Foreign Language to a Child that is Educationally Compromised?
The answer lies in-getting back to basics!
In regards to ADD, autism-spectrum and foreign language learning,
I see alot of autistic and ADD children, in general-I see that many children are struggling to fit into the system, which continually lowers the reading age and schooling (because of daycares that are now labeled "schools"). I would say this would be a percentage of children, not all, as of course some are suffering from physical disorders from vaccine, etc.
I have a son that is trilingual and used to be autistic (and two other children as well).
My experience has that the benefits of language early on, be it one, two or three languages-are perfectly acceptable and within the parameters of early learning. I remember when my son was a baby I was teaching him French, German, English and sign language-people then started blaming me for his autism because of the languages. Ironically, years later when he recovered from his autism his languages were there in his brain and his comprehension and pronunciation exceeds that of my other children and so, at times I felt it useless and frustrating, but I have seen the residual benefits.
If an ADD child is having problems with language (s), I would look at removing stress from other areas of his/her life-such as tv, video games, reading and writing. I always recommend the Waldorf method to people because it truly has performed miracles in my family's life-but even without the Waldorf method, which holds off reading and writing until after the adult teeth come in, parents can learn to stand behind their children, protect their childhood, and honor where the child is at. I recommend the book "You are Your Child's First Teacher" by Rahima Baldwin...and of course my own book ; )
So in closing, the problems stem from not teaching the language early but the many toxic influences around them- be it physical, emotional, or both that are not age appropriate and cause the child to contract.
