Head Injuries: The Truth and The Lies
By: Aurore Adamkiewicz, ND
As you might have expected, I am blogging on another celebrity health story. The tragic passing of Liam Neeson's dear and talented wife Natasha. Her untimely death from what has been reported as a fall on the bunny hill while skiing and a bump on the head-has left many panicked and even confused. As a mother of a son who suffered a severe brain injury from a birth trauma caused from a vacuum extraction, I know the complications of head trauma-far too well. In light of that, I would like to explore the alternative/natural health options and opinions on this story.
First of all, the news have reported many different theories-all perhaps true and probable. For instance it has been described as a "freak accident," others say it was caused from not wearing a helmet, or from lack of access to a medical helicopter. While I would not argue with these reports-there is one thing they have neglected to report on which is drug use. Oops, did I scare you? Do you think I am suggesting Natasha was a illegal "drug abuser"-well, no I am not. But do I think she is like the many other American's who pile up on "legal" pharmaceutical drugs, which coincidentally becomes more and more pills and drugs after the age of 40-well, then yes, I am. She may have been in fact a habitual and frequent pharmaceutical drug user.
So, what pray tell am I implying? Well, if one looks at the toxicity of drugs and their effect on the human body-specifically the liver and kidneys. One may have already had some blood vessel damage or brain bleeding from simple over the counter NSAIDs, blood pressure medication-etc. One must take into account the fact that drugs effect the blood and the ability of the blood to clot and also the bodies ability to heal properly. Theoritically, someone with a head injury such as this was more than likely a victim of drug side effects-which of course would never be listed on a death certificate.
I offer two recent and personal head injuries, within my own circle. One was last year when I witnessed a 70 pound truck hatch fall on the 2 year old child's head and completely knock him unconscious. I saw this child come back to consciousness with the use of the EFT and subsequently put under the colored lights to reduce swelling and stop bleeding. The child was seen by a highly skilled Osteopathic physician who reported no lasting physical damage. Obviously there was a fear of an epidural, or subdural hematoma. But this healthy, undrugged 2 year old child recovered-AMAZINGLY. He was a victim of a serious tragedy-and bounced back because of his parent's ability to raise him without drug use-his body was able to heal itself and the intervention, medically, was minimal...but of course necessary given the extreme circumstance.
Now, take an instance of a 65 year old woman who is on many different medications for arthritis, high blood pressure, and cholesterol. This woman was taking a walk outside and fell. She fell on her hands, two fingers broke and her face hit the cement. She had uncontrollable bleeding because her bloody nose would not clot. The bloody nose turned into an emergency hospital visit and an over night stay in which the woman was given drugs to help her blood clot. This "simple" tragedy turned into a serious tragedy-and because the medical intervention was already there, the necessity of course was only to give more, and more.
I am no Christian Scientist and believe whole heartedly that perhaps the elderly woman's circumstance would have turned fatal had she not been hospitalized. However, my desire is to show the need to prepare for such emergencies by living a healthy lifestyle and saying no to drugs, as much as possible. Because if and when the day comes-you will need your own healing devices available to heal yourself and of course anything extra will either help and heal or contribute to more toxicity.
I end this by offering my condolonces to the Neeson and Redgrave family and a hope that one day the drug lords will someday be defeated.
